Pic #6

Although I'm not particularly sure what type of flower this is, but I'm leaning towards Iris or an Orchid.
I'll ask the photographer when I get a chance. I love how the fresh raindrops make this picture even greater than it would without. This photograph is yet another beauty. I rate this picture 2 thumbs up. A gold star for you, Mr.Photographer.

Pic #5

This picture was taken at a hidden creek in St.Francisville. Capturing the butterfly just as it is landing shows great timing on the photographers part. The photo was given an award on Flickr as well. The account was removed before I could remember the name of the organization. Nonetheless, an altogether fantastic picture. Brownie points for you, Mr. Photographer.

Pic #4

I find this picture quite amusing, to be honest. Yes, it is a barren wasteland, but the cow just makes it all the better. I'm not completely sure where this was taken, but I do like it. The clear skies definitely compliment the photograph. I love how the photographer caught the cow looking at him. Kudos to you, Mr.Photographer.

Pic #3

Now this is in my top 5 favorites. This was taken at the bridge near the graveyard during the snow of 2009. The snow falling and landing on the bridge is marvelous, due to the fact it happened in Louisiana. This photograph is of utmost beauty. Props to you, Mr.Photographer.

Pic #2

I truly love this picture because it is set in Louisiana. Not only that, but at my particular house. This is my front yard in winter of 2009. It's stupendously beautiful and unique at that. The snow covered trees and the blanketed ground is amazing and 5 stars worthy. This is a magnificent picture and was an amazing sight to see in person. Great job Mr.Photographer.

Pic #1

This photograph was taken at the Timothy Retreat Center Lake. I liked this picture because it shows a state of calmness. The water is still so there's a reflection, which is always a great background. The rope knot has an aura of tranquility, it's hard to explain how it is so. It is all together a beautiful picture that looks like it could have been painted. Compliments to you, Mr.Photographer.

Blog Assignment #2 - Happy News

                        "8-year-old boys save drowning man"

Two boys in an under-14 lifeguard class rescued a struggling man drowning in the east coast in Australia. This is one of the most inspiring stories I have read, though it was not even a page long. These two young boys took an act of courage and saved a life. "We saw him put his hand up and saying, 'help, help,' so we went over to him and pulled him on our board," said one of the boys. Nearly 50,000 Australian children ages 5 to 13 are enrolled in junior life saving programs, according to Surf Life Saving Australia. I am very impressed with this and am pleased to know we have such kids like these in our world.

"Heroic mailman saves 3 lives while on the job."

An ordinary man has shown multiple acts of chivalry in his time of being a mailman. His own town calls him "the plainclothes superhero". This man is extraordinary, and I would be very honored to meet him. Nearly 20 years ago, this man, Keith McVey, saved a suicidal teenagers life by wrapping him in blankets and keeping him alive until the ambulance came after he jumped off a bridge. 2 years ago, while on his morning route, he heard someone crying for help. He rushed and saw a little girl drowning in a lake. He dove in, and rescued her after many attempts to get her above water. A few weeks ago, he rescued a man who had stopped breathing on the side of the road. All of these while he was on the job. I think everyone should look up to this man as a hero and aim to be as he is.

Classmate interview

Madeline is a very close friend of mine. Madeline grew up in a smalltown in Louisiana, named Zachary. Madeline plans on becoming a successful teacher by studying hard and going to LSU. She is currently 13 years old, going on 14, January 9. Maddy plans on getting married at the age of 25 and having children raised in her own hometown. Her favorite animal is a duck, "'cause ducks are cute." I asked her if her life was currently successful, her reply, "I'unno, I'm only 13". If she could go anywhere in the world, she chose Scotland. She enjoys volleyball, eating Macaroni and playing with her dogs during her spare time with her siblings.

Blog Assignment #1

As most of you know, the name is Katie. There's not much to really say that's particularly interesting about my life, due to the fact that not even a quarter of my life has gone by. But nonetheless! Here it is anyway.

I am a simple Louisiana girl, and not the stereotypical that most people think of when they hear, "Louisiana girl". Which is, accent, and bayous with alligators in backyards. Nope, my life isn't THAT cool, just a normal G.R.I.T.S. I attend school, read books, and listen to my iTunes. I like and love many-a-things.

People who have known me, say maybe, a day or two, know of my obsession. Yup, wolves. Just to take up space, here's how I started my little fascination. It was in Middish summer 2006. At four o'seven. Setting up my very own Myspace page. What background to choose? So many options. What's cool, cute, adorable, and beastly? I got it. Wolves. Yes, that's it. Hmm, I never really learned much about wolves, so I used my handy dandy Google. I read and read and read. I learn that they're endangered and the most epic creature ever. That is how the wolves created a den into my heart. (Omg, wasn't that a cute statement?! Made it up myself, I did.)

Paragraph numero quatro. This may be a semi-interesting tidbit of myself. I know 3 languages. Si, Oui, Yeah, you read correctly, three. Granted, I only know maybe 4 sentences in each language, but that counts for something, right? Right? I half-semi-kinda-not-really-at-all speak Francais, Espanol, and Deutsch. I learned Spanish from the various Spanish teachers of BCS and learned French and German from the good ol' internet.

At age 13 and two-thirds, (September 10..coming soon..yeah, you know what I'm hinting.) I have experienced the world. Outside my house. In Louisiana. But didn't really go anywhere. Because I can't drive. Nor have a passport. And am still in school. So, my life is pretty monotone. Hm, the world I've experienced really isn't that interesting now that I write it out...Anyway, somehow I've managed to complete the blog assignment. Brownie points for me!

Au revoir, adios, and see you all soon.
Ich liebe dich. :)

Pre-Blog-Interview

  • Step 1
Decide what type of interview you'd like to do. The most common are face-to-face and phone interviews. Face to face gives you an opportunity to look at the person and see the look on their face when they're telling their stories. A phone interview gives the person a little more anonymity and might provide an easier outlet for someone to open up.

  • Step 2
Set up a time or place to meet with your subject. If you are meeting face to face, meet in a place that is comfortable to the subject.

  • Step 3
Bring a recorder and a notebook and pen. Turn the recorder on during the interview, but write down in the notebook key things that were said. You can also write down the time certain things were said by watching the timer on your recorder.

  • Step 4
Start a conversation, not an interview. Have a conversation with your subject because you want them to be comfortable with what they're talking about. The more comfortable your subject is, the better the interview will be.

  • Step 5
Listen. Let your subject talk. Don't be so quick to interject with more questions. Wait for a definitive pause before asking your next question.

  • Step 6
Let the conversation steer your line of questioning. It's good to go into the interview with an idea of what you want to ask, but don't be afraid to ask your questions in response to what your subject has said.

  • Step 7
Let the interview go as long as it needs to. Don't limit your time or your subject's chance to tell his story. This will ensure the most complete interview possible. After he is finished, thank them for their time.
